It looked like an even match in the beginning until the domination begins.

Damn that dude got fucking worked! Wonder what the back story is here? The first dude looks like some out-of-shape guy off the street.

  • t

Hardly a “street brawler”. Any guy who’s actually fought in the streets would know things called “head movement” and “defense” or that a muay thai fighter might throw a high kick.

    • dragnet

That’s what I thought–this guy is not a real street fighter.

They say styles makes fights…but not really. Styles make sport. Real fights are won by killers.

The muay thai instructor’s strongest asset wasn’t necessarily his skills—it was his killer instinct.

      • TD

No, his strongest assets were absolutely his skills. The other guy had no shot even if he was Charlie Manson. You simply cannot beat a professional at their own game and fighting is no different.

I wager to bet the vast majority of guys who have “fought in the streets” are completely helpless when pitched against pretty much anyone with any experience in full contact sparring with competent opponents. SWPL America is protected from much in the way of after hours brawls by lawyerphobia, but man, do you see martial incompetence on display in similar social strata neighborhoods in Europe and elsewhere.

Mora of the story: getting some proper fight instruction, that includes sparring. It will put you ahead of 90% of all wannabe brawlers out there.

Oh, and if you live in one of the more civilized states, get a darned gun.

90% of the street fights I’ve seen were won by sheer aggression. I’d have to almost always give the edge to the guy with training and experience sparring.

Hah what a video. Absolutely insane!!

Western boxing with some take-down defense and Muay Thai elbows/knees is probably most effective for a street fight (outside of practicing groin attacks, eye gouges, etc which I’m assuming you don’t want to get into for legal reasons).

Fight training and sparring in Tae Kwon Do or Aikido isn’t going to take you very far.

  • Giovonny

That street fighter looks like a tough dude and a good athlete. He came strong with some good, straight punches. I bet he is a good fighter.

Too bad he was going up against a trained professional.

Thats the difference between being good and being a pro!

  • Giovonny

“Western boxing with some take-down defense and Muay Thai elbows/knees is probably most effective for a street fight (outside of practicing groin attacks, eye gouges, etc which I’m assuming you don’t want to get into for legal reasons).”

Shit, eye gouges and groin attacks are your best bet when you’re life is on the line.

A hard kick to the balls and a firm poke in the eye will win you alot fights.

Remember the first rule of street fighting – there are no rules!

giovonny’s got it right. That was alot of my jiujitsu training (I’m old, this was pre UFC jiujitsu) was un-learning how to ‘fight’ or ‘box’ and focus on taking down someone quickly, which is balls, eyes, ears, throat. If everyone thought survival vs. ‘fighting’ no one would use a headlock, your balls are too exposed and you can get the shit bit out of you…There are no rules.

You won’t be able to get in close enough to tear out someones eyes when they are boxing your face off.

    Absolutely clinical.

0:14 – Brawler tries the “30 second of wildman” that every moron thinks will win a fight. MT guy just rocks away from the shots so they miss.
0:16 – Let’s the guy come onto him and ducks into a clinch that he controls completely. He’s just toying with the brawler, letting him cook. Still hasn’t been hit.
0:19 – MT guy in full control and has opened the brawler up for knees in the clinch, but he’s just having fun
0:23 – the moment he’s clipped with a glancing blow he fires a clean hard counter that lands well
0:28 – MT guy simply can’t miss and doesn’t even show the respect of setting up shots correctly or mixing them up. He just headhunts with lead hooks and a head kick. Normally, you’d set them up on the end of something. Shows how he doesn’t have any respect of the brawler’s ability to hurt him or avoid his shots
0:32 – None of the crowd noises show any surprise at all at how quickly and effectively MT guy drops him
    0:38 – brutal finishing

This video shows clearly how far above brawlers a real fighter is. It was one-sided from the first bell. For a similar example watch Bert Cooper (totally washed up but formerly good enough to give both Evander Holyfield and Michael Moorer stiff title challenes) demolish “UK bare knuckle champion” Joe Savage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhH–zvzUns
